For those of you that love fresh rotisserie chicken then you have come to the right place. This is the easiest recipe to get crispy seasoned chicken. You simply add oil and spices onto the chicken and throw it into your air fryer. It is free of additives, preservatives, and any junky ingredients. This chicken is gluten-free, Paleo, and Whole30 compatible.
Living abroad has many perks but one downfall is that there is typically a language barrier when asking questions at the grocery store. My local grocery store has pre-seasoned ready-to-go rotisserie chickens. They always smell delicious but I have no idea if there is gluten in the spice mix and asking the workers will always leave you more confused typically because of said language barrier. So I just started making them myself and there is nothing quite like fresh and crispy chicken skin.
Having a rotisserie chicken on hand is great to make a quick lunch or to use in any recipe that calls for pre-cooked chicken. You can also save the carcass and make a delicious bone broth with it. I love recipes that do double duty.
I have a smaller air fryer, so could only fit a 2 1/2 pound whole chicken in mine. If you have a bigger air fryer you could most likely fit a 5-pound chicken. I will give the cooking times for both below.
Crispy Ranch Rotisserie Chicken

- 1 tsp dried chives
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp dried dill
- 1 tsp dried tarragon optional, only if you have on hand
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 225C with fan assist or Air Fryer to 200C. Spray inside of air fryer basket or baking rack with oil.
- Combine all spices in a small bowl and mix well.
- Remove any giblets or neck inside the chicken. Pat your chicken with paper towels to dry or let it sit in the fridge uncovered overnight to dry out.
- Rub the oil all over the chicken. Season the inside of the chicken with 1 tsp of the spice mixture. Use the rest of the spices to evenly coat the outside of the chicken. Rub all of the oil and spices onto the chicken to evenly distribute.
- Place the chicken breast-side down into the air fryer or on baking rack.
- Tuck the wings underneath themselves so they do not burn.
- Place in the oven for 30 minutes, then flip the chicken over and cook for another 15-20 mins (for 2 1/2 pound chicken). Until internal temperature reaches 165F.(40 minutes and then flip it over for 20-25 mins for 5-pound chicken)
- Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before serving.
