There is something nostalgic about a big cold glass of thick chocolate milk. It is just simply joy in a glass. I took my Homemade Nut Milk recipe and made a few changes to create this quick and delicious chocolate almond milk recipe. You just add some maple syrup and unsweetened cocoa powder to get it thick and chocolatey. This milk is also so delicious frothed or steamed in your coffee. It is a great healthier alternative to your traditional cane sugar-filled chocolate milk. This is a perfect dairy-free and refined sugar-free treat!

You can use soaked almond or cashews in this recipe. I like to soak mine overnight and then give them a good rinse before using. Make sure your nuts are fresh as 1 rancid nut can ruin your entire batch. With the leftover nut pulp you can make these delicious Almond Butter Brownie Bites. Enjoy!

Chocolate Almond Milk

Prep Time5 minutes
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almonds soaked in water overnight in the refrigerator
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch sea or Himalayan salt

Instructions

  • Drain your soaked nuts and give them a few rinses with fresh water.
  • Put all ingredients into a high-powered blender. Blend on low for 1 minute. Blend for an additional 2-3 minutes. The more powerful your blender the quicker it will make the milk.
  • Put your cheesecloth, fine-mesh sieve, or nut milk bag over a large bowl or container. Squeeze out excess milk over your bowl or container. This can take a bit of time and strength to get all the milk squeezed out.
  • Pour into a glass jar and store in the refrigerator.

Notes

***You can use any nuts that you like or a mixture of whatever you need to use up.
***Get creative with the leftover nut pulp. Recipe linked above to use your leftover nut pulp.
