Paleo BBQ Meatballs are zesty, spicy, and oh so good. What to pair with BBQ meatballs? Throw them right into the oven, paired with my Crispy Fried Broccoli or a salad for a quick and easy meal. These also pack well in a lunchbox when you, are your kids are getting sick of the same lunch. The BBQ sauce is a little bit sweet, zesty, with a touch of spice for the perfect Paleo sauce. This sauce can also be used on any of your favorite grilled meat. Paleo BBQ Meatballs are gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free.

I like to bake the Paleo BBQ Meatballs without the sauce and then I will top the meatballs with the sauce for the last 10 mins of baking time. I like to reserve around 1/4 cup of sauce to add once they come out of the oven before serving. This is optional but makes them look more appealing this way.

This BBQ sauce holds up well in the fridge for up to a week. It is easy to double this recipe if you like to keep extra on hand. The meatballs also freeze well too.

  • 2 pounds 1 kilo of ground/minced beef not low fat
  • 2 eggs whisked
  • 3 tbsp almond flour
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp ground thyme

BBQ Sauce

  • 1 1/2 cups tomato sauce
  • 3 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 2 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 garlic gloves minced
  • pinch sea salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375F or 190C with fan assist.
  • Mix all ingredients for the meatballs. Do not overmix as it will make the meatballs tough.
  • Roll into balls, around 1 1/2 inches in diameter. I was able to make 15 meatballs.
  • Place into baking dish.
  • Make your BBQ sauce once the meatballs are in the oven.
  • Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil.
  • Turn heat down to low and simmer for 7-9 minutes. Take off the heat once done.
  • Bake meatballs for 20-25 mins depending on the oven. Pour BBQ sauce (reserving 1/4 cup for later) over meatballs and cook for an additional 10 mins.
  • Once finished you can serve or top with additional sauce.
